hemingway often thought of courage as a persons ability to be calm and controlled in the face of death.his theme is presented in his novel "for whom the bell tolls?" the story "the old man and the sea" and in our textbook "a days wait".by misunderstanding a different thermometer the boy thought he was running a high fever and would soon die.but he took his death bravely and waited quietly for it.the boy showed us he had courage.
i think such a definition of courage is far from enough.courage should not be limited and related only to death.in ordinary life there are common things that also show a persons courage.for example,on a bus trip,a thief was trying to steal a girls purse.some people saw it,but kept quiet.they were afraid to be revenged by the thief.the brave stood out and stopped the thief.
courage means truth and justice to me.the person in a high position often hear songs in praise of him.some people are sincere.some are only flattering the superior in their own favor.the leader also needs courage to welcome criticism as well as those who have the courage to criticize him.such courage may come from mutual understanding.i think a man of courage will value truth and justice,and not hesitate in his actions to do what he thinks is right,there is no such word as fear in his dictionary.

good morning everyone, it's my pleasure to be here and talk about dreams and ambitions with you. when i was a primary school student i wrote in my composition that i want to be a scientist when i grow up. at that age i didn't know what is a scientist, nor did i know what is dream. i wrote it because it's a standard answer for a composition test. and i know if i wrote that i want to be a peasant i would be criticized and laughed at, no matter what reason i gave it. but now in university, one of my classmates changed my idea. at the career planning class when asked about our dreams, one of my classmates stood up and said, " i want to be a peasant because i grow up in a peasant family and i love it." no laughter, no criticism, he was the only who winned a clapping.
it sets me thinking, which should be a man's dream? a scientist, or a peasant? it's not a simple question and my answer is both. this is exactly my understanding of this topic. dreams are something we really want and are willing to try every effort to achieve, no matter how great or how small, no matter how others think, it depends on you.
life is long, and we are just on the starting point. finally we'll understand life is not just about making a living. there're something much more important than money and material enjoyment, that is spiritual wealth, that is dream. it's the process of your pursuit of dream, the process when you are trying, when you are seeking, when you are struggling, when you failed and restarted again and again with your determination, hardwork, and perseverance that make you, build you, and help you to lead a worthy and significative life, whether you'll achieve your dream or not, the result is not that important.

我喜歡一句話："黑暗出發(fā)，光明登頂。"沒人能從光明到光明。如果一個人只是從光明到光明，那么這種沒經過黑暗檢驗的光明也只是脆弱的，甚至是需要的光明。世界無非明暗一個真正的人，一段真正的人生，總是要從黑暗出發(fā)。陀思妥耶夫斯基說過這樣的一句話："黑暗是鑒定光明的一種真理。"人性的豐滿和繁復都在這黑暗中，最深的同情，最大的悲憫和最寶貴的勇敢也都在這黑暗中。黑暗和光明就好比如挫折和成功。在布滿荊棘的黑暗中正需要一顆勇敢的心。勇敢的意思，并非無所畏懼，它意味著即使感到害怕，仍堅持去做該做的事。

常老師是我小學六年級時的語文老師，她經常在我需要點勇氣時，給我吹來“勇敢的氣”。
學校要舉辦讀書節(jié)與藝術節(jié)的演出。上午，老師在班中挑選演出的人員。我們班主要表演朗誦，所以老師讓同學輪流朗誦詩。
我非常想?yún)⒓?，可又不敢。媽媽說我沒有藝術細胞，剛才老師說還要唱歌，我想還是不參加了，免得丟人。老師叫到我，我像霜打的茄子，說了一聲不參加。
中午放學前，老師特意補充道：“還想?yún)⒓拥娜讼挛邕€有機會，中午回家練練?！甭犃诉@句話， 我心中綻開了燦爛的笑容.。
路上，我的思想一直在做斗爭：
“你還是不要參加了，又沒有藝術細胞，有什么資格參加!”黑暗的小人說。
“不行!在沒有藝術細胞，也要去參加，你得突破自己，不可以膽小!”代表著光明的小人說。
最終，我決定抱著一絲希望去參加。中午我苦讀苦練了半小時，信心十足地上學。
到了學校，看到參加的人實力那么強，我自己覺得我不行，就決定不參加了。
第二天一早，我來到學校，坐到座位上。見老師臉上掛著迷人的微笑，邁著輕快的步伐向我走來，在我身邊坐下：
“你昨天怎么不報名參加呢?”老師溫柔地問。
媽媽說我沒有藝術細胞。我小聲、膽怯地在心里說，但始終沒有說出來。

我點了點頭，頭低下去。

人怕死，怕災，怕病，怕仇……唯獨不怕，夢想的艱難。因為我們心中下定了這個決心，就是在歷史中留下了一道影子。這道影子會在困難時鼓勵你前進，也會在成功時激勵你能將更好的一個夢想實現(xiàn)!然而，古代的人不辭艱辛，開辟了萬里長城的道路。正如張騫，為了與西域打通一條道路的一個夢，他不辭艱辛努力前行。他們并不是只帶著上司的命令在前行，而是在心中用勇氣鑄成了一個不折不扣的夢。當取得夢之成就時，怎么不為自己的光輝成績而自豪。
然而，我們現(xiàn)在人，似乎太依賴技術與科技。再也沒有以前的勤奮，總是快餐式地完成每一件事，快餐式的讀書、快餐式的旅游、快餐式的夢想。然而只一味的讀書，并不了解其中意義，何來煮酒論英雄?只是快餐式的前行，怎么能體會出祖國之美。然而古代人民騎一頭毛驢足足走了三個月，他說得出哪里草肥馬壯，哪里風高學厚，不用勇氣慢慢地去體會，怎么會發(fā)現(xiàn)這些美麗。否則這只不是一張地圖罷了?？觳褪降膲粝敫枰淖?，我們不能只有三分鐘熱度。我們要有勇氣去努力前行，這樣我們才能將夢想實現(xiàn)。
