the plots designed in the movie are very extraordinary. it tells the story by forrest gump himself. he sits on the chair by the road and tells his life experiences to the strangers who are waiting for the bus. many important events and people of american from the 1950s to the 1970s are shown fluently in his description of his life experience. moreover, the value and the spirits of americans, especially the youngers’, are also revealed. besides, the character portrayed in the film is inspiring. forrest gump is unfortunately to be born with a low iq and muscle problems. however, he becomes very successful through his struggling. his pure, honesty, integrity, bravery, perseverance, loyalty in love and promise not only touch me greatly, but also set a good example for me. in addition, the movie is full of philosophy. many lines in this movie are classical. for example, life is a box of chocolates, you neer know what you’re gonna get. the sentence that death is just a part of life, something we’re all destined to do is also of wisdom. they make us think of life profoundly.

but of the human beings, unpredictable nature selected only mr. a gan, one wonders also why nature, with mr. a gan, made it possible that people who was treated as a fool can surely make a difference. mr. a gan’s success is no accident. there is no doubt that ordinary people like you and me can live a rich life by perseverance!

this is a powerful yet charming movie; fun for its special effects and profound in how it keeps you thinking long after it"s over. like others, i"ve seen this movie more than once. one comment i"ve never heard is that forrest"s simplicity is almost zen-like. i should read the novel to get the author"s intention (i remember some people preferring the book and complaining that no one at the academy awards gave him any credit.) but rather than an implication that you should do what you"re supposed to do and believe in god and you"ll win in the end, i see it as zen-like, i.e., living in the moment and not having expectations or particular cravings (other than his loving jenny.)so he ends up just stumbling into all the major historical events of the time. granted, he achieves this only because he doesn"t have the brains to think otherwise and actually have expectations, but so many of our problems are because we do have higher intellect and desires, which ironically makes us unhappy because we know what we are missing. we love our cats and dogs for the same simplicity and always being in the moment. there"s a line in the movie wondering if everything is predestined or happens randomly or it"s a combination of both. it is something to mull over for a long time.
